The BUFF® Mountain Festival, which is due to take place in Vall de Boí on 29 & 30 June and 1 July, is slowly approaching. Details of the numerous activities available over the course of the weekend are being hammered out and finalised.
This means that registration is now open for three new activities on the scheduled programme for the festival; the Trek Festival, Nordic Walking and the Catalan Bouldering Championship.
Vall de Boí Trek Festival
The Vall de Boí Trek aims to raise awareness about Vall de Boí, its landscape and all the possibilities offered by the valley, its network of nature trails (with over 70 kilometres of signposted hiking), the array of Romanesque churches and the Aigüestortes National Park.
These hiking activities will enable people to discover the fascinating landscapes, local culture and traditions by exploring these nature trails in the company of local guides, who will talk about the genuine authenticity of their region while hiking and getting closer to nature through sport and cultural excursions.
The programme includes activities for all abilities; from simple excursions for the whole family to climbs up to iconic peaks along the valley, from peaceful strolls through the meadows to visiting local craftspeople making typical products of the region, from wildlife spotting to guided tours of the incredible Romanesque churches with World Heritage status.
Nordic Walking is a fun and healthy physical activity that consists of walking with especially-designed trekking poles. This sport increases in popularity every year and is now being included at the BUFF® Mountain Festival for the first time.
Expert instructors will offer a master class, a fitness session and excursions led by qualified monitors. Vall de Boí is a superb location for the enjoyment of Nordic Walking, the outdoors, nature trails, architecture, etc. The BUFF® Mountain Festival encompasses all this and much, much more.
Catalan Bouldering Championship
The magnificent climbing wall owned by the Federació d’Entitats Excursionistes de Catalunya (FEEC) will be installed in Barruera for holding its most important bouldering event - the Catalan Bouldering Championship. This championship will be attended by élite athletes from this speciality as well as veterans and upcoming stars from the Centro de Tecnificación de Escalada Deportiva [Specialist Climbing Centre], all competing to take away the title of Catalan Champion.
The élite and veteran competition will take place on Saturday, 30 June, while the upcoming stars and youth categories will compete on Sunday, 1 July.
Soon, we will be announcing more news, how to register for more activities (such as rafting, via ferrata, canyoning and yoga), the official presentation, prize draws, information on the children’s activities and much more.
